2013 The Come Back

Jeremy Randolph

Its only 4 days until we are checking into the hospital to bring the newest member of the Randolph family into our lives! I know what your thinking... that the same day as Round 5 of the GNCC series! Your right, and if I didn't have a awesome wife and KR4 AnR backing me, I would never be able to make the race this weekend. Since I am not having to prep my race bike and don't have to worry about loading up my bike and gear for the trip back I am able to help get things ready for the baby and should make it back in Clarksburg with time to spare Sunday night!
I'm sure things are going to be a little hectic around the Randolph house for awhile so I wanted to take this time to get everyone caught up on how my season is coming together.
I was very excited for Steele Creek because it was the first race my daughter,Khynzli, has been able to attend so far this year and KR4 brought down the new 48 foot hauler for our bikes and gear!I want to personally encourage everyone that has kids interested in our sport to bring them over to the KR4 trailer. Khynzli still has stars in her eyes after meeting Karlynn Beam ( Womens Pro) and getting an autographed poster!Even though it was my first time at Steele Creek, I felt confident going into the race because the KR4 crew had lots of experience at Steele Creek and everyone was very helpful with bike setup and line selection. The race didn't start as well as I hoped. Open B was the last row and my bike didn't fire on the first kick leaaving me to be the last bike into the woods in the afternoon race. I put my head down and charged hard working my way up to 181st overall (passing over 100 racers) and 15th in class putting me in 11th in points.
After Steele Creek Billy Beam was looking for a way to help me get some more seat time since my practice bike was not ready yet, so they loaded up my race bike and took it down to Crow Canyon, Ohio for an AWRCS harescramble. Before the start, Billy and Frank went over a few techniques they wanted me to focus on during the race. The race went an unexpected extra lap putting it at nearly the 2.5 hour mark and my bike came across the finish line on fumes for 4th place in class!
Going into The Big Buck Billy and Karlynn Beam were talking to me about target heart zones and pacing myself during the beginning of the race. It defenitly helped me race smoother with less mistakes, but I found it hard to "flip the switch" and charge hard with 2 to go after setting such a smooth pace during the beginning of the race. I finished 14th and moved into a tie for 9th in points.
Thanks to the advice and constructive feedback from the KR4 crew I have made several changes in my diet and training program and I am PUMPED for round 6! I am ready to keep fighting for results and climb my way back into the lead pack.
I want to thank KR4,Yoshimura,Rekluse,Dunlop,Loud Mouth MX Intakes,Twin Air,GoPro,Offroadviking.com,Stickman Graphx,Fly Racing,PR2,Silkolene,Sunstar,Matrix Concepts, and Keegan Wireless for helping me be the best racer I can be for 2013!
